the Annual Veterans Competition was held at National Piping Centre, Otago Street Kelvinbridge Glasgow on Friday 6 September 2019.
This is open to Members of the SPA who have attained the age of either 60 or 65 depending on who you are asking for that information. Sometimes 10 or so compete and on this occasion it was 5 and excluding the writer they were all of excellent standard with good piping backgrounds and so it was an interesting night of good piping with decent instruments that were well blown and no mistakes by the entrants.
Cake and tea/coffee were the order of the day and a meagre audience helped the pipers and the judge and organiser, Tom Johnstone and his committee to gobble up the crumbs. A pleasant evening of relaxed piping.
