Episode 13 – Willie McCallum is instantly recognised in the piping fraternity as one of the most successful soloists ever to have graced the solo piping competition scene. A native of Campbeltown, Kintyre, Willie has won almost every prize in solo piping and several times over. Pipers’ Persuasion met up with Willie at McCallum Bagpipes in Kilmarnock, where they regularly consult with Willie. He has successfully developed the MC2 Solo Chanter, with which he has had considerable success.
Willie talks about the many influences upon his piping, his ancestry and many other interesting areas of his life in piping.
