It is with great regret that we learned of the passing of Jim Hutton at the end of June. Jim was in fine form when he was interviewed in his Grangemouth home in the spring, when he was delighted to share his experiences in pipe band drumming. Sadly, Jim passed away after a period of illness. Jim received a worthy fairwell at his funeral, with the drum corps of The House of Edgar Shotts & Dykehead Pipe Band and several of his former friends and colleagues in pipe bands performing a drum fanfare in the presence of his family and friends in attendance.
We are sincerely grateful to have captured Jim’s story in person and have no doubt that the interview will be extremely useful to many young drummers in their future careers. We extend our sincere condolences to the Hutton family.
