071:Stuart Liddell

Episode71:Pipers’ Persuasion travelled to Argyll to talk with him when he was at Lochgilphead, teaching and Stuart Liddell gave us some hints on his personal and band approach to Piping success.
In 2017 he led Inveraray & District to its first World Pipe Band Championship title.
Stuart Liddell is now the only pipe-major in history to have won both the Gold Medals at Argyllshire Gathering, the Northern Meeting at Inverness and the Glenfiddich Piping Championship at Blair Castle and World Pipe Band Championship. He was originally taught by his grandfather, the late Pipe Major Ronald McCallum M.B.E. He has also had tuition from Arthur Gillies, Jim Henderson and Hugh MacCallum.
He was a member of the Scottish Power Pipe Band thereafter joining the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band from Vancouver, Canada.
Stuart has collaborated with McCallum Bagpipes to develop and make Duncan MacRae Bagpipes, a copy of the original instrument owned and played by Stuart.
Most of the photos and all the video are taken by Allan Hamilton while other photos are kindly provided by Robert Wallace of Piping Press
