Pipers’ Persuasion travelled to Glasgow for The House of Edgar Shotts & Dykehead Pipe Band Centenary Exhibition at the College of Piping, where we interviewed Robert Mathieson and Jim Kilpatrick MBE for the series. Both interviews are very candid and offer an interesting insight into both sides of their relationship as Pipe Major and Leading Drummer of the Polkemmet and Shotts & Dykehead bands. The timing of Robert’s interview closely coincided with his announcement to stand down as Pipe Major of the Shotts band, which was made public just a few days before our meeting with him. Both interviews are now in production and will be available later in the year.
